Visa for Marriage in Germany
If a German citizen intends to marry his/her Filipino fiancé in Germany, the latter should apply for a marriage visa with the Embassy of Germany in the Philippines. An interview appointment should be scheduled either through the call center or by personally appearing at the embassy. During the setting of appointment, the information required for the visa processing is already being gathered by from the applicant to reduce the length of the personal interview to be conducted. Hence, it is advised to keep the documents and passport on hand when setting the appointment. This is also beneficial to the applicant as this avoids excessive waiting time for securing an appointment. The estimated period of time from the setting of appointment until the issuance of the marriage visa is 6 weeks.
The following are the documents needed for the application of a marriage visa:
If the Filipino fiancé is single and was never married before, a Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) issued by NSO should be procured.
If the Filipino fiancé is a widow/widower, he/she should submit a Death certificate of the spouse,
If the Filipino fiancé was married previously, he/she should submit a Certificate of annulment or declaration of nullity of the previous marriage.
The German Embassy in the Philippines may ask for additional documents to prove the civil status of the Filipino fiancé and such other documents to establish the eligibility of the fiancé to be granted a marriage visa. The visa applicant should also include 2 photocopies of all the documents to be submitted for the visa application.
